Scanned Portraits and Botanicals – The vertical portraits and botanicals are “clickless” images created from a hand-held wand scanner. To add an extra layer of diffusion, the image is fused with encaustic, giving the portrait or botanical a more haunting and ephemeral quality.
Family and Friends – These portraits were not staged, but taken very quickly not paying attention to the technical nuances of photography. These photographs were taken intentionally out-of-focus with a shallow depth of field using a medium format Hasselblad camera. All were shot onto color negative film, the negative scanned, printed as a digital image then print mounted on board, and finally coated and fused with wax and pigment.
